Natasha, it's a great issue of Granta. By all means buy it if you can swing it. As for MG's essay...there is much more in it than I could write about in a short blog post...it's a wonderfully dense, rich reading experience...but I guess that some people will be put off by its high emotional temperature.

Mary Gaitskill can make anything fascinating, man. I published an essay of hers where she hits her head on a bridge in St. Petersburg, and so help me I was discombobulated for the rest of the day because I couldn't negotiate that I was not also in St. Petersburg with a potential concussion. The woman's a freaking genius. And who doesn't dig a ghost cat?
